You run service calls rather than pulling wire on a new build. A day is troubleshooting: a dead circuit, a breaker that keeps tripping, a panel that needs replacing, a GFCI nobody can find. You are working with a meter and sometimes a megger, reading what a previous electrician did and figuring out where it went wrong. The code is not optional and the inspector is not negotiable, so knowing the NEC is doing the job rather than passing a test. Some days are residential and small; some are commercial, where a fault takes down equipment somebody is losing money on every minute.
